Getting Started in BMX

The BMX season runs pretty much all year round. (We have a short break over December and January). Our Club racing is conducted Saturday afternoons.

Each club meeting you attend will cost you $8 to race for the day. (Family - $22).

BEFORE YOU CAN START
A rider must have:

  • A BMX bike of any description. 
  • Number plate (can be purchased at the sign on desk). You can chose a number from 10 to 999.
  • Full face helmet (the club can loan a helmet if needed).
  • Gloves (the club can loan gloves if needed)
  • Long sleeved shirt and pants (tracksuit pants are no longer allowed).
  • Shoes with socks that cover the anklebone.

To ride (race, train and attend gate practice) a BMX you also need to purchase a BMX license (see below). 

 

We are an Active Kids Provider. This means you can use your $100 NSW Government voucher towards your childs BMX Licence.

Parents/Carers will need to apply first for their child’s voucher code: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/tr…/apply-active-kids-voucher

Then enter the voucher code whilst registering or renewing membership and $100 will be deducted from the cost. You can apply for a voucher for each eligible child, so sign up today.

BMX LICENSES TYPES:

Mini Wheelers Membership - 12 months: $52.60
BMX Mini Wheelers is an introductory level membership where riders develop balance, gross motor skills and independence to begin riding a bike. Using a balance bike, Mini Wheelers develop skills that allows their progression in BMX riding to be seamless and towards riding a BMX pedal bike. This membership is valid for 12 months and can be upgraded on-line to a Sprocket Rocket at any time once the rider is able to use a pedal bike.

Sprocket Rocket Membership - 4 Months: $48.65 // 12 Months: $145.95 (you can use your Active Kids voucher to pay $100 of this)
A Sprocket Rocket membership is for any rider under the age of 8 and is a participation-based program. Its focus is on skill-based learning and allows children under the age of 8 the opportunity to tune their BMX racing skills in a fun non-competitive environment.

Open Membership - 4 Months: $50.80 // 12 Months: $152.40 (you can use your Active Kids voucher to pay $100 of this)
An open membership allows you to ride at any club in Australia, including club carnivals and events. 


BMXA Membership for Parents - $0 - covers YOU under BMXA insurance at the track. Mums and Dads of Castle Hill BMX riders were recommend you should all become volunteer BMXA members and Level 1 officials. Its free, just complete the 3 steps below.

Step 1: Become a BMX Australia Volunteer member (Free) - Become a Volunteer Member.

Step 2: Do a very simple free 10 minute online quiz. There is one question you might get wrong: Q10. Who controls a BMX race? A: The Chief Race Commissar.

Step 3: Click on the following link and apply for the Working With Children Check. (It is free and lasts for 5 years). You then need to go to the RTA with your  application number. 
You will then receive an email confirming your check results.Please forward your confirmation to BMXNSW (lorrainedunkley@bigpond.com).
